Marcia K. Henry, PhD.

Professor Emerita, San Jose State University and Past President of The International Dyslexia Association

Marcia Henry brings over 60 years of experience working in the field dyslexia as a diagnostician, tutor, teacher, and professor. Receiving her Ph.D. in educational psychology from Stanford University, she became a professor in the Division of Special Education at San Jose State University. Marcia was a Fulbright Lecturer/ Research Scholar at the University of Trondheim, Norway.

Along with Patterns for Success in Reading and Spelling, her books include WORDS (2nd ed.), and Unlocking Literacy: Effective Decoding and Spelling Instruction (2nd ed.). She compiled and co-edited Dyslexia - Samuel T. Orton and His Legacy. She is a fellow in the Orton-Gillingham Academy. She served as president of the International Dyslexia Association from 1992-1996, and received the Margaret Byrd Rawson Lifetime Achievement Award from the IDA in 2000. Now retired from active teaching, she currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Reading Center in Rochester, MN where she received her initial O-G training in 1959-1960.
