Brett Miller, PhD.

NICHD/Reading, Writing, LD

Brett Miller, PhD, is the Deputy Branch Chief of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) as well as serving as program director (PD) of the Reading, Writing, and Related Learning Disabilities Program and interim PD for the Language Development, Biliteracy and Bilingualism program. In these roles, Dr. Miller has published numerous articles and co-edited volumes on literacy and learning disabilities and actively engages in equity, diversity and inclusion efforts at the NICHD. Before accepting this position at the NICHD, he earned a PhD at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Cognitive Psychology and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Haskins Laboratories. Previously, he held the position of Associate Research Scientist at the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Dept. of Education, where he oversaw research portfolios focused on topics related to math and science education, adult literacy and learning and cognition and student learning.
